Rainy Day, A bit of surgery and a new start.......

So there's a little bit of everything in that title, isn't there. Well, I'm going to start with the latter part first by saying that once again, my new start is my retry at blogging. Third times a charm, right? and I'm hoping I can stay with it this time. I admire those of you who faithly blog every day or at least 4 or 5 days out of the week. I do love reading your posts and although mine will never be as enlightening as some of yours I am going to use you as my mentor and try to do better much better.

The rain here, in Ohio, has been visiting us almost nonl-stop for the past several days and is supposed to hang around here for most of the week with the exception of tomorrow. Sunshine and 72 is forecasted for us and I will take it. Although, I don't mind the rain so much as it keeps the grass green and the rhubarb growing. Oh, and the morel mushrooms. Yum! We have found more this year that we have in the past 10 years total.

As for my surgery, I had varicose veins removed from my right leg today. They did the left on March 17th. They will only do one leg at a time but they did go in and touch up my left leg in places they missed with the laser. Let's hope for a quick recover as my job doesn't give me much time to recuperate. Being a winery owner, I am on my feet almost all day 5 days of the week.

Then to round off my blog for today, is my update on stitching. Which is few and far between but as I read on someone else's blog, starting a blog with the theme mostly on needlework made them stitch a little more and then post their results a bit more, too. Which is going to be my main goal with this blog. Although, I hope to post pictures of my winery, too. I have a website, www.buckeyewinery.com but the host of my blog charges me whenever I want to add pictures to my website so this way I hope to put a few on here ..........and it's free!

Wish me luck in posting pictures of my WIP's pictures for stitching. I'm going to be laid up most of the day so I'm hoping to play a bit more with my blog!

Thanks for reading, Kathie

Where does the time go.......

Well, I've made it to my second post in as many days. Is that a record?

My title of "where does time go" is said with sadness as I am afraid we are entering the final hours of my beloved siamese, Pecan. Pecan would be 17 years old on April 1st. But the past 4 or 5 days have been days where she hasn't eaten or wanted to be loved by DH or I. She just wants to lay by one of our two gas fireplaces. Although, tonight has been the first time in as many days that she has asked DH to hold her. But her eyes are glazed and her breathing is heavy and fast. I wonder each evening when I come home or each morning when I awake as to whether she will still be with us or not. We are supposed to leave for a week next week but I'm not sure if we will be able to go. I can't ask anyone to watch her not knowing what will happen. So in the meantime, we play the waiting game. 17 years is a long time and there will definitely be a void when that time comes.

Tomorrow, I'll talk stitching..........since that is what motivated me to start this blog in the first place a year ago!

One more time.....

I've been toying of the idea on whether I want to get back into the blogging thing again or not. I shouldn't say get back into it, should I, as I never really even made a good start. Two or three posts over a year doesn't make a blogger, does it? Well, Nancy, the good friend that she is tagged me for "You Make My Day". It got me to thinking that maybe I should give it another try.

I think my main reason for not blogging is not only the time but it is such a learning curve for me. Once I get the layout figured out it shouldn't be all that hard to post, should it? I just look at everyone else's blogs and think "how do they do that?". Ah, well, we'll try again.

First thing I need to figure out is how to move my profile around so it isn't in that weird spot in the upper right hand corner. LOL

Monday, Monday....

I do believe that's the name of a song. First thing that popped in my mind when I was thinking of what to title my post for today. Can you believe it? Two posts in two days. Let's hope it lasts.

Another day that has flown by and there isn't even alot that I can say I did today. Ran the vending route, had a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce, visited DH's aunt and ate Chinese food for lunch! Mmmm! Then home to do some paperwork and now it's after 8:00 pm.

The wind has been blowing something fierce today. They said the gusts were supposed to be 40mph or more and I believe it. Where is our spring? I'm still wearing my winter carhart jacket!

It's about time to raid the refrigerator, yes I know it's after 8pm. Just a bit to eat and then to pull out my EGA Mystery Sampler I'm stitching on.

See you tomorrow!

Where does time go......

We'll try again. My first and only post was at the end of January. I have every good intention of making regular posts and then I just never get around to it. The winery opened Feb. 6th. Check us out at www.buckeyewinery.com Business has been steady. Yesterday was crazy. I think we had every table full for the first 4 hours. Then business slowed down until 8-ish and then we closed 45 minutes past closing time.

As for my stitching? What's that? :) I just finished a small piece that I can't post a picture of yet because it is for a blind challenge that my friend, Puff, has organized. We are stitching secret, funky pieces for fellow stitchers. This should be a hoot when we get to see them all!

I'm also trying to listen to an audio, Patricia Cornwell's "Last Precinct". This is definitely not one of my favorites, and if they don't start getting better again, I'm going to give up on this author all together.

On the homefront, my son has been offered a job out of state. He was going to double major in college and go one more year and then stay around home and work for himself. But now, he is rethinking that decision. He wants to graduate in June, move 12 hours away and start making money in the real world. I can't blame him all that much. It is a very good job offer but this momma is not real happy from a mother's standpoint. That old saying of a mother giving their child wings? Hmm, why did I have to make them so durable to fly that far away.

I hope to get some stitching in today. It is Sunday, it should be a day of rest, but I have dinner to make, laundry to finish up, trucks to stock for the vending route and a swish and swipe of the bathroom. Oh, and I have to help my son finish up his taxes! Nothing like waiting until the last minute. See...... he still needs him mother once in awhile!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Day 1 of a busy week.........

It is Sunday evening. Sitting here watching Extreme Makeover and trying to create a blog. So this is the thing to do, huh? Well, we shall give it a try.

Being as this is my first post, here is a bit about me. As my Blog title mentions, I am a Buckeye. An Ohioan through and through. Born and raised, and although I hate the winter weather, I can't think of a place I'd rather live. Ok, maybe a little more south where it is a bit warmer year round. But then the bugs and critters get bigger too, right? If I could keep our hills and valleys and have the temperature 75 degrees year round, then it would be the perfect place to live. Right now we are talking wind chills in the negative numbers tonight. Brrr, too cold for me.

I entered my 40's a year ago, married with one son in college, two grown step-children with families of their own, a very spoiled siamese cat and a mama pig with 7 piglets born December 25. Ok, the piglets are my son's by while he is in college DH and I have become surrogate parents.

I love to try any kind of needlecraft, the only thing I have never seemed to master is knitting. But as my blog suggests, give me a needle and thread and I'll give it a try.

The other half of my blog, defines the other part of my lifestyle. DH and make wine. So much so, that we will be opening our winery in another week or two. Hopefully........ This has been in the planning stages for 7-8 months and oh, how we are looking forward to turning on that Open sign and unlocking our doors.

So join me, as we venture forward into the world of Buckeye Threads AND Buckeye Wines.
